Bob Haugh joined VDEM as the agency’s Information Technology Director on August 25, 2011, just as Hurricane Irene was taking aim at Virginia.  Since that auspicious beginning, Bob has been focused on improving the agency’s technology posture from both a strategic and tactical perspective.  

Positions Held

Bob has been employed by the Commonwealth since 1997 in the following positions:

  • Senior Project Management Specialist, Virginia Information Technologies Agency (2003 – 2011)
  • Project Manager, Virginia Department of Social Services (2001 – 2003)
  • Systems Development and Support Manager, Virginia Department of Corrections (1997 – 2001)

 Prior to joining the Commonwealth, Bob served 20 years in the US Army as an Acquisition Corps and Military Police officer. He retired at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. 

Personal Info

Bob has a BA in Criminology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a MS in Management Information Systems from the University of Arizona. He attended the US Army Command and Staff College and the Commonwealth Management Institute. 

Bob is an volunteer Emergency Medical Technician with the Colonial Heights Fire and EMS Department.
