Emergency Management Professional Program

The vision of the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Emergency Management Professional Program is to strengthen the field of Emergency Management by providing a structured and progressive framework for acquiring the knowledge, skills and abilities to enter and progress through the field and meet the challenges of a dynamic and complex environment. The entire EMPP curriculum is designed to provide a lifetime of learning for a career in emergency management.

The EMPP includes three academies, each appropriate at different points of an EM’s career. For more information about each, click the title of the Academy:

National Emergency Management Basic Academy (entry-level)

National Emergency Management Advanced Academy (mid-career)

National Emergency Management Executive Academy (executive leadership)

 

EMPP in Virginia

In accordance with FEMA policies, VDEM manages EMPP Basic Academy content and delivery, including tailoring the course to address Virginia-specific content.
