NEW HOURS FOR FEMA TOLL-FREE TELEPHONES



WISE, VA. – The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) toll-free telephone number will now be available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. It will no longer operate on Saturdays and Sundays.


Residents of the Southwest Virginia declared disaster area who have not yet applied for FEMA assistance have until June 1 to call the FEMA registration number, 1-800-621-3362 or TTY 1-800-462-7585 for the speech and hearing impaired.


FEMA’s Helpline, for applicants who have questions or need to make changes in their registration information will also operate under new hours: Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., closed Saturday and Sunday. The Helpline number is also 1-800-621-3362 or TTY 1-800-462-7585 for the speech and hearing impaired.


Since president Bush declared a major disaster in Southwest Virginia on April 2, more than 1,600 residents have applied for disaster assistance.
