GOVERNOR WARNER DECLARES STATE OF EMERGENCY
FOR BUCHANAN AND TAZEWELL COUNTIES

~ Order allows state resources to be used
to provide emergency water relief
~

RICHMOND — Governor Mark R. Warner today declared a State of Emergency for two southwest Virginia counties experiencing water shortages due to water line breaks as a result of freezing temperatures.

The order allows the Virginia Department of Emergency Management to provide bottled water supplies to Buchanan County and Tazewell County today, and to provide tanker trucks to replenish storage tanks by tomorrow.

Buchanan County had declared a local emergency yesterday because of water shortages due to pump malfunctions throughout the County and the Town of Grundy.
