FEMA Individual Assistance Denied for Flooding Damage
The Commonwealth of Virginia was notified today that the request for Individual Assistance to assist property owners affected by the severe weather in late June and early July was denied by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
Governor Timothy M. Kaine requested the Individual Assistance for the counties of Alleghany, Arlington, Augusta, Botetourt, Montgomery and Fairfax and the cities of Alexandria and Salem. The Individual Assistance Program makes funding available for homeowners and renters in the form of grants, low interest loans, unemployment assistance and disaster housing assistance.
Virginia previously received approval of Public Assistance for government infrastructure and certain private non-profits for the counties of Arlington, Bath, Botetourt, Craig, Dickenson, Fairfax, Floyd, Henry, Highland, King George and Rockbridge and also in the City of Alexandria.
