SUSSEX AND ISLE OF WIGHT COUNTIES
HAMPTON, VA-The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Virginia Department of Emergency Services are taking their joint state and federal mobile Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) to Stony Creek (Sussex County) and Windsor (Isle of Wight) during the week of October 11, 1999, according to state and federal disaster assistance officials.
Assistance seekers from Sussex County, the Isle of Wight, and other disaster-affected areas will be able to visit the mobile DRC, and talk with state and federal representatives about the status of their disaster assistance applications and other services offered in connection with Hurricane Floyd. Federal and state agencies use the mobile unit to get in touch with disaster assistance applicants who have already registered with FEMA, but have not been able to reach other DRC sites. To register for disaster assistance, residents are urged to call 1-800-462-9029 or TTY 1-800-462-7585 (for those with speech and hearing impairments) daily, 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. Residents who have questions about disaster assistance programs or the status of their applications should call the FEMA Helpline at 1-800-525-0321 or 1-800-462-7585 (TTY).
