Starting in 2017, the External Affairs (EA) division began the process of rebranding and updating content for public awareness publications for use by the public, local and state government agencies, and private sector partners throughout the Commonwealth.
Completed publications are posted on the appropriate threat page at vaemergency.gov (e.g. vaemergency.gov/earthquakes) and KnowYourZoneVA.org for Coastal Virginia specific hurricane resources. A comprehensive publications library with the latest preparedness publications and resources is maintained at vaemergency.gov/publications. The library also includes social media graphics.
The External Affairs division handles branding guidelines, public outreach programs, preparedness marketing materials, news releases, management of VDEM’s social media accounts and content, the website, media request and legislative affairs.
