Records Management: The Public Records Act, the Library of Virginia and You

Description: We are very pleased to announce a Webinar Wednesday training event titled “Records Management: The Public Records Act, the Library of Virginia, and You”. This webinar is coordinated by VITA ISP staff, Melissa Parsons, and provided by Glenn Smith, Records Management Analyst for the Library of Virginia.

During the webinar, Glenn will address the Virginia Public Records Act and its implications on government records management programs; how to understand and use the Library of Virginia’s Records Retention and Disposition Schedules; and the ins and outs of destroying public records, including how to document that process. We will briefly touch on electronic records issues, reformatting records, and e-mail management. There will also be a time for questions and answers on PSAP and GIS specific records management issues.
