RICHMOND – State officials led by the Virginia Department of Emergency Management (VDEM), in coordination with the local officials and Dominion Energy, will conduct a test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) and the early warning siren system on Wednesday, September 14 at 11:10 a.m. for the Surry Power Station.

State officials led by the Virginia Department of Emergency Management (VDEM), local officials, and Dominion Energy will conduct a quarterly test of the early warning siren system around the North Anna Power Station on Wednesday, August 17 at approximately 11:10 a.m., and the Emergency Alert System.

Declaration provides resources to assist with ongoing response and recovery operations.

The Virginia Department of Emergency Management (VDEM) in support of county personnel, conducted Initial Damage Assessments throughout the affected areas of Buchanan County on Friday, July 15 through Saturday, July 16, 2022.

On behalf of Buchanan County, the Virginia Department of Emergency Management (VDEM) with many other agencies are continuing the recovery and cleanup efforts following flash flooding that began on Tuesday night.

First Responders will be providing an update on flooding that occurred in Buchanan County over the past few days. Following the press conference, local authorities will be guiding media to impacted areas for video and photo opportunities.

RICHMOND – Emergency response personnel from several Virginia agencies, local governments, and Dominion Energy will hold a Biennial Radiological Emergency Preparedness Exercise on July 19, 2022, with the North Anna Power Station in Louisa County.
