VDEM Announces Nonprofit Security Grant Program National Security Supplemental (NSGP-NSS) Funding
RICHMOND – The Virginia Department of Emergency Management (VDEM) is pleased to announce more than $2.8 million in federal funds for Fiscal Year 2024 Nonprofit Security Grant Program National Security Supplemental (NSGP-NSS). This funding provides support for planning, training, target hardening, and physical security enhancements to eligible nonprofit organizations in the Commonwealth.
VDEM received 99 project applications from nonprofits throughout the state and those in the designated urban area in Hampton Roads totaling just over $13.5 million. The NSGP-NSS State (NSGP-NSS-S) portion funded almost $1.8 million, and the NSGP-NSS Urban Area Hampton Roads (NSGP-NSS-UA) funded over $1 million.
This is a nationwide competitive application process with reviews happening at the state and federal level. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) makes the final determination on what projects will be awarded based upon the scoring criteria provided in the Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO).
