Richmond (ISP) – The Integrated Services Program’s Virginia Geographic Information Network (VGIN) team announces the release of a new resource supporting the use of GIS feature services from its ArcGIS Server.
Map services and feature services allow desktop GIS users to interactively use GIS data published to the internet by someone else. Feature services allow users can load data into a map, change how the data looks, use the data in geoprocessing tools, and even save features from the data to your local environment. It is this last advantage of feature services that assists Virginia PSAPs as they complete their NG9-1-1 PSAP and provisioning boundaries and start the process of loading data into the NG9-1-1 system through the GIS Project deployment step.
The new resource is available on the Virginia NG9-1-1 GIS Resources page as “Working with VGIN Feature Services.”
